This is a big weekend.  Halloween is Friday. World Vegan Fest is Saturday.  And we get an extra hour Sunday morning after turning back the clocks. Below are notices of other events coming up, including a vegan potluck on Thanksgiving day and  great news (old news) about a terrific vegetarian restaurant in Marin. Enjoy the weekend and the cool, colorful month of November.


Saturday, November 1 (This weekend!)
World Vegan Fest
This Saturday is the World Vegan Fest at the SMC Event Center in San Francisco (1111 Gough St.) from 11 to 5. More than 100 vendors, cooking demos, music, comedy, inspiring talks and compassionate people will all be there.  The first 200 people to arrive will get a swag bag.  Get your tickets at https://www.sfvs.org/

Cirque du Sanctuary Benefit for
Rancho Compasion
Celebrate the tenth anniversary of Rancho Compasion with acrobats, dancing, magic and great food at the Cirque du Sanctuary gala in Point Reyes. Vegan Potluck in Santa Rosa
There will be a vegan  potluck in Santa Rosa on Thanksgiving day.  Here are the details:
Monroe Hall
1400 W. College Ave.
Santa Rosa, CA. 95401
2:00 pm
What to bring:
-A vegan dish, savory or dessert, to share (Vegan means no animal products. No meat, dairy, eggs, fish, honey, etc.).
-A serving utensil for your dish 
-A small card with the ingredients of your dish
-Your own place setting (plate, cup, fork, napkin, etc.)
-Please DO NOT bring just a bag of chips or uncut fruit. Please bring a home prepared meal or dessert. A pre-made vegan Thanksgiving themed item bought at a store is acceptable, like a pie or side dish. Please make sure it’s vegan.
Service
 
animals are welcome but must be on a leash and under the control of their person at all times.
There is an oven at the hall but you must make arrangements  at least a week in advance if you need to use it to be sure it would be available for you to use. 
For any questions, contact Karen (at least the Monday before), as she will not be available on Thanksgiving.

Marin Has a Vegetarian Restaurant
And It Has Been Here for Years
I am glad to be proven wrong in asserting that Marin does not have a vegetarian restaurant.  Since 2008 when it opened in Mill Valley and continuing through 2018 when it moved to Ross, Tony Tutto Pizza has never served meat.  They have many vegan pizzas, and, according to their website, a vegan tiramisu cake among quite a few other wonderful vegan menu options. No More Fur in Major Fashion Magazines

Jane Goodall Farewell

Animal Agriculture Out of the Spotlight
Major media are not mentioning food systems and meat eating when they cover climate change, despite being one of the two major catalysts for  it. This is part of the reason that 74% of Americans do not believe eating less meat has an effect on the climate crisis.

U.S. Army to Offer Vegan MREs
By 2027 the Army will replace vegetarian MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) with vegan choices.  This is in response to requests by service personnel.
