VegFest Videos Now Available
Eugene Oregon recently had its first VegFest, and it was a huge
success. Compassionate Living, host of the festival, has kindly
shared recordings of all the short films and terrific speakers at
the event (including Tofurky founder Seth Tibbott, The Food
Empowerment Project's lauren ornelas, and many more).

Egg Substitutes Booklet
Thanks to reader Dave P.for pointing me to this excellent
pamphlet from vegan chef Jessica Hylton-Leckie. It shows how to
create alternatives to eggs for every occasion. The chef welcomes
questions at her website. Share this with friends and family who
lament the cost of eggs or who think being vegan is too hard.

Regenerative Grazing Debunked
This seven minute YouTube video tells the truth about
regenerative agriculture. If you have heard people extolling the
benefits of regenerative farming, watch the video to hear about
what the science says and learn the truth from people without a
financial stake in raising cows.

New Book by Gail Eisnitz
On Animal Well Being
This new book,
Out of Sight, from the author of
Slaughterhouse
sounds terrific. I am eager to read it after having read this
interview with Eisnitz in Psychology Today.

Rescuing a Bird or Stealing Property?
The Courts Will Decide
I found this story interesting and sad. From any perspective,
it is good reporting.

How Healthy Is Tofu?
This article in the New York Times lays to rest persistent myths
about danger lurking in this love-it-or-hate-it food staple of the
vegan diet.

Vegan Diet vs. Portion Control
A new study reported in Frontiers in Nutrition demonstrated
that a vegan diet - even a less than optimal one - leads to more
weight loss than a calorie restricting diet. The study was conducted
by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (pcrm.org), one
of my favorite organizations.

Switzerland Restricts Vegan Labeling
Switzerland's courts in May banned vegan food products from calling
themselves vegan chicken, vegan fish, and any other vegan food
intended to substitute for animal based foods. They fear confusion
in the marketplace in flexitarians and new vegetarians or vegans,,
